I am thrilled that this blog has finally become a reality. My sincere thanks go out to my fellow parent, Isabel (International Librarian), for her faithful and dedicated efforts in setting up this blog. ---Isabel, what was once a bunch of crazy jumbled ideas of mine, is now a reality thanks to you 

Estou muito feliz que este blog tornou-se finalmente uma realidade. Meus sinceros agradecimentos ao meu caro colega, Isabel (International Bibliotecário), para seus fiéis e dedicados esforços na criação deste blog. --- Isabel, que era uma vez um bando de malucos idéias confusas meu, é agora uma realidade graças a você.

The launching of our blog, “Portugues na International Charter School” is huge step toward having a home for our own virtual Portuguese library of Children’s books. My hope is that it will also be a place where ICS parents can connect with each other and feel connected to what our children are learning at school. So I’ll be asking all who are willing, to share a bit about yourself so that we can get to know each other better and learn more about our diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. 
Please feel free to respond in either Portuguese or English. We will do our best to translate posts. Also, it would be great to get volunteers to partner with any parents who don’t have internet access so that everyone is included.

O lançamento do nosso blog, "Portugues na International Charter School" é um passo enorme para ter uma casa para a nossa própria biblioteca virtual de livros infantis en Português. Minha esperança é que ele também será um lugar onde os pais ICS pode se conectar uns com os outros e sentir-se ligado ao que nossos filhos estão aprendendo na escola. Então eu vou estar pedindo a todos que estão dispostos, para compartilhar um pouco sobre si mesmo para que possamos conhecer melhor uns aos outros e aprender mais sobre as nossas diferentes origens culturais e linguísticas. Sinta-se livre para responder em Português ou Inglês.

Além disso, seria ótimo para conseguir voluntários para servir como parcerias com os pais que não têm acesso à Internet para que todos estejam incluídos.

Please let me know about any mistakes, if you don’t understand my posts or if you have suggestions to improve my translations. I’m not a native Portuguese speaker, so I’m sure to have mistakes and I’d love to have your support so that I will improve my Portuguese on this virtual journey. Keep in mind that have learned Portuguese by speaking with Brazilians, so it would be fun if you share how you might say the same thing in Portugal, Cape Verde, or Angola…

My hope is that this blog will inspire you to read more in Portuguese with your kids or to speak more Portuguese at home and in the community. If you don’t speak Portuguese, I hope that you will learn some Portuguese as your child learns Portuguese at school. Finally, I hope that this blog brings us together as a community of parents supporting their children’s education.


A minha esperança é que este blog vai inspirá-lo a ler mais em Português com os seus filhos ou para falar mais Português em casa e na comunidade. Se você não fala Português, espero que você vai aprender um pouco de Português cada vez que o seu filho aprenda Português na escola. Por fim, espero que este blog que nos una como uma comunidade de pais de apoio ao ensino de seus filhos.
